Being such a hot day, so peeled he did as he took off all his cloths and went skinny dipping next door at Elder Dogooders swimming pool. Mookie swam a couple of refreshing laps around the Dogooders pool he noticed a pink rubber tube on the side of the pool. Mookie pulled himself up onto the edge of the pool and in all his manly glory walked over to pick up the tube. As he was bending down to pick it up, Sister Dogooder came out of the back door, startled and screamed at Mookie......

LET US TRY AN EXQUISITE CORPSE
by Terry inamong surrealist techniques exploiting the mystique of accident was a kind of collective collage of words or images called the cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse).
based on an old parlor game, it was played by several people, each of whom would write a phrase on a sheet of paper, fold the paper to conceal part of it, and pass it on to the next player for his contribution.
i will begin the story.

Some twisted psychopath kidnapped my brick!!!
by Elsewhere insadly i must report that shortly after my bricks were delivered to the construction site of my new house, some sick twisted psychopath went and kidnapped a brick for ransom!
granted, i must admit that there are some very suspicious circumstances surrounding the alleged "kidnapping".
i know that particular brick and he has always been a troublemaker and prone to violence.

Bogus ways of counting your Field Service Time...
by Confucious inhey guys, .
i'm sure it's been done here before, but a very funny post by blondie spurred this thought.
blondie was saying how one dub would put wt and awake magazines in the rear car window and count time driving too and fro...

Like standing on the street corner at 8am on a Sunday morning!!! Like who the F*** drives by and if they did they must have thought we were crazy religious nuts. What were we thinking that as they drive by at 50 mile an hour, seeing us standing there in the freezing cold, all of a sudden seeing the light and yelling out the window, "wait right there I'll be right back, I want what you have".

Are Christians harmless?
by gumby infirst off....let me qualify something.
lets keep this to modern day christians in civilized lands.. many on this board are non-believers, and there are quite a number of christians.....so we have a mix.. non believers feel they need to speak out concerning what they have come to understand regarding the bibles authenticity to believers because they feel these ones need to at least see the sceptical side so they can make an honest choice.. believers feel they need to speak out to others concerning what they have come to understand about salvation.
here's the deal..............if believers can live a happy, good, healthy life, and take this to the grave with them..........should a non-believer try to mess all that up.....or leave well enough alone?.

Gumby,
Thank you for your response and questions my dear friend. As always you have made some good observations and questions. Here is my response,
WHY would we be better off without a religious/spiritual belief system, if those individual beliefs bring no harm?
I have stated on this subject various times, I have no problem with people believing the way they want as long as they allow others to believe what they want to believe. Hell, I wouldn't care if they worshipped a tree as long as they don't shove it down my throat. Unfortunately our western religion philosophies do not allow for this tolerance of others beliefs. My religious beliefs? I like how Wayne Dyer put in in his book, "Your Erroneous Zones"
"The leaders of the church have misconstrued the teachings of the great religious leaders and attempted to teach conformity by using fear of retribution as a weapon. Thus a man behaves morally not because he believes it to be appropriate for him, but because God wants him to behave that way. If in doubt, consult the commandments rather than yourself and what you believe. Behave because someone has told you to and because you will be punished if you don't, not because you know it to be the right behavior for you. Organized religion appeals to your approval seeking needs. It may produce the same behavior that you would have chosen, but you haven't chosen it freely."
"Using yourself as a guide and not needing the approval of an outside force is most religious experience you can have. It is a veritable religion of itself in which an individual determines his own behavior based upon his own conscience and the laws of his culture that work for him, rather than because someone has dictated how he should behave. A careful look at Jesus Christ will reveal an extremely self-actualized person, an individual who preached self-reliance and was not afraid to incur disapproval. Yet many of his followers have twisted his teachings into a catechism of fear and self hate."
Do you think mankind would be more productive and advance further since he would not be waiting on god to fix things? Do Christians today not get things done because they wait on god? Who are they? (dubs not included)
We have made major advances in the last few hundred years but just think of the advances we could make if we put all our energy into helping one another and not in ways of destroying one another. Yes I think we would be farther ahead if we didn't wait on God to fix things or the "get what we can now for what does it matter because we have that heavenly reward in the end" attitude. A lot of Christians are very successful individually but again how much more successful we would be as a human race if we were all working together for a common goal. Religion in the past has being a big divisive force, a hindrance into slowing down progress.
Also......in what way do you think mankind will destroy himself if he keeps being religious? Why isn't man dead now since he has 'believed' since his beginning?
Look at all the great wars and crusades that have being started and propagated by religion because "God was on our side". This is a good question and the answer is NO, we have not destroyed ourselves till now but we are now at a time in history where a push of a button by some fanatic could start the beginning of the end. The Genie is out of the bottle now and there is no way of putting it back. Eventually with today's technology it is just a matter of time that some pissed off fanatic, with a nuclear bomb in a briefcase, walks into the middle of a major city and poof its gone!!! Religion has to take the blame as they have being a big part of escalating the hate for one another.

Not only do the familys have to deal with the dead but the trauma loved ones face in this war.
When I was growing up I recall hearing the same type horror stories from the Vietnam veterans.

So, as soon as people realize you will never find an answer about the existence and state of being in any other realms, or even after natural death (no matter what cause), people can then accept the current life span, make logical balanced decisions based on facts, not faith, and actually make better progress and achieve a higher form of personal spirituality realizing there is no absolute truth about our origins, YET.
Utopian Reformist,
Good point. As soon as people start living as this is all there is too life and stop living in a dream world of fantasy, we will be better off. Not living as a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu etc, but by being a human being first. We need to get rid of all the labels and live to better the human race and future generations first. With religious thinking of "why should we worry if we end up killing each other because we have our reward in heaven after we die". Unfortunately I feel we are all domed to destroying ourselves with this type of archaic philosophies that should have been left in the dark ages.

God and the Concept of Time
by ezekiel3 input your waders on, we?re going in the deep end?.
jw premise: god created jesus, and then together they created everything else.. fact: time and space require at least two points to exist.
you cannot reference time or space with only one thing.. so before god created jesus, there was no way to measure time.

I agree that a person should respect others way of thinking without trying to convert them. I have no problem with Christian believeing what ever they like, just leave me alone but you know it goes both ways.

After several attempts, I found that in each situation I ended up feeling that everything was incredibly FAKE! Maybe I just don't have the Holy Spirit or whatever. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Maybe it's not my time. Or maybe a personal relationship with Jesus is a way to ease guilt/please parents/impress the other sex/feel good about yourself/feel justified in feeling superior. I can only imagine...
My experience is that all those emotions are all fake. Religion is for weak minded people that cannot accept reality. If you read up on the origins of Christianity you will find that the early Christians merged their Jesus stories with the early God man mythologies and that they destroyed/suppressed that knowledge for the last 2,000 years.
